Exploring the Art, Craft, and Chaos of Literary Translation
Artwork by Svetoslav Stefanov
The Third Wheel is a digital publication conceived as a hub for literary translators. Alongside translated poetry and prose, we feature original writing that delves into the translators’ journeys.
Call for Submissions for Issue 1
For our first issue we want to help reimagine the boundaries of translation—to dissect and explore nonstandard experiences and identities. Our goal is to spotlight translators who work from unconventional linguistic backgrounds: nonnative speakers, multilingual creatives, heritage learners, and those operating outside dominant language hierarchies.

Theme: The Exophonic Translator
Send us
We welcome translations of both poetry and prose, but most of all we are looking forward to your lengthy translator’s notes, annotated drafts, and reflections on the process of literary translation.
Check the Submissions section for details on what and how to submit.
